Linear Filtering in Applied Geophysics
Practical exercises:
Yichuan:
- Write Matlab/Octave codes giving frequency- and time domain forms of the following
filters:
- Multiplication of amplitude by a factor
- Time shift of the record by a fixed number of sampling time increments
- Time shift by an non-integer number of sampling time increments
- Constant phase rotation of the wavelet
- Recursive deghosting filter
Osama:
- Write Matlab/Octave codes giving frequency- and time domain forms of the following
filters:
- Hilbert transform filter
- Zero-phase band-pass filter
- Attenuation filter by a specified Q factor ("Q-filter")
- Zero-phase deconvolution filter for the output of the preceding
Q-filter
All examples should be illustrated by impulse response (response of the
filter to a spike, or time-domain signature of the filter) and application
to Ricker wavelet.
