Recursive inversion in practice

• Extract wavelet and deconvolve the data.

• • A robust approach is to estimate the wavelet amplitude and phase spectra using both seismic and well log measurements (the Wiener filter).

• Build a model impedance at each seismic trace by:

• • Inserting the well-log derived impedances.
  • Correlating the synthetic with the seismic data.
  • Interpolating the impedance values.
  • “Stretching” the impedance using seismic picks.

• Scale the seismic data to the reflection coefficients and apply recursive inversion to each trace.

• Add the low frequency component of the model to the recursively inverted traces at each location.
