Model-based inversion in practice
In practice, model-based inversion involves:
First, build a model using interpolated sonic log velocities and picked horizons.
Second, extract a good estimate of the seismic wavelet.
Third, “block” the input model to a reasonable block size.
Finally, invert the data. Instead of matrix inversion, we step through a series of iterations using the conjugate-gradient method.
