Graduate Assistantships in Seismology and Geophysics

M.Sc. assistantships in seismology are available at the Department of Geological Sciences, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. We are looking for students interested on processing, imaging, numerical simulations, and interpretation of seismic and other geophysical data. A successful applicant will be able to work with a variety of datasets, including unique recordings of nuclear explosions and world-class crustal refraction and reflection data. We are particularly interested in students with background and interest in the following areas:

Ongoing projects with student vacancies:

  1. High-resolution location of micro earthquakes related to potash mining,
  2. Time-lapse 3D and VSP reservoir monitoring during CO2 injection;
  3. Regional  air-magnetic and gravity mapping using textural attributes.

The available facilities include a state-of-the-art parallel cluster computer system and a full range of commercial and in-house software for seismic processing and interpretation.
