In this term, we conduct two research projects studying the reflection Amplitude Variations with Offset (AVO) from different perspectives and in different settings:
Modeling of reflection AVO from the Wollaston Lake deep crustal reflector
Analysis of the effects of geometrical spreading and free-surface reflections on reservoir AVO,
Both projects use 1D numerical modeling of seismic wavefiels using the reflectivity program adapted for our processing system. Here is a sample (in fact, nearly complete!) SIA script to help get started with this modeling.
