A history of inversion

• We now turn to inversion. Three methods will be used to illustrate the history of trace inversion.

• The earliest approach was applied to post-stack data and called recursive inversion.

• A more recent approach is model-based inversion, but was still initially applied to post-stack data.

• The most recent approach involves the extension of model-based inversion to pre-stack seismic data.
